Position: Unit Manager Regional Exploration

The successful candidate will perform and/or supervise moderately complex geological duties related to Greenfields and Brownfields Exploration.

Key Responsibilities:

•   Ensures the achievement of high standards of performance by the Company in the management of health, safety and the environment, particularly within the exploration department;
•   Assesses and interprets all available data sets in order to rank exploration targets and opportunities;
•   Plans, organizes and executes early stage exploration programs which include soil sampling, geological mapping, trenching, and drilling activities;
•   Plays active ‘hands-­?on’ field based role in all exploration programs and data collection;
•   Effectively manages multiple field crews on a variety of exploration projects simultaneously in multiple locations within Ghana;
•   Proficiently uses ArcGIS, Micromine, and Leapfrog software to produce geological and structural models and maps;
•   Assigns duties to and monitors activities of immediate team members to ensure achievement of performance targets;
•   Identifies training needs of immediate team members and organizes or recommends appropriate training for them;
•   Assesses the performance of immediate team members and reviews assessments done for lower level employees;
•   Administers discipline affecting immediate team members in accordance with the company’s disciplinary code and procedure; and
•   Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by supervisor

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Degree in Geology / Geological Engineering
•   At least 10 year of relevant exploration experience
•   Familiarity with current geological technologies and practices;
•   Proficient in geological & exploration related software is essential;
•   Computer literacy in the following geological and exploration softwares is required: ArcGIS, Micromine, and Leapfrog; •   Ability to communicate and liaise with local communities;
•   Planning organizing, problem solving and decision-making skills.
•   Ability to follow up, monitor people and work activities and processes, and take reinforcement or corrective actions. •   Ability to explain corporate or departmental vision, values, objectives, and standards, inspire team members, and set the appropriate example;
•   Ability to work under pressure with little supervision.
