Job Vacancy For Assistant Academic Registrar



The Assistant Academic Registrar reports to the Provost and the Associate Registrar (Academic Records). The position requires at least 5 years of experience in higher education and at least 1 year experience working in or with an academic registry office. The Assistant Academic Registrar must have a deep understanding of academic issues, especially as pertains to students’ degree programmes and requirements, and experience working with students. The Assistant Academic Registrar must have an impeccable attention to detail, the ability to work independently to solve complex and subtle problems, the desire to help students, excellent communication skills (both oral and written), and a high level of organizational and interpersonal skills. A strong sense of confidentiality and ethics is vital to this position.

Qualification Required & Experience

Required Qualifications & Skills

•   A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
•   Minimum of 1 years work experience in a similar role
•   Minimum of 5 years work experience in higher education
•   Impeccable attention to detail, and experience problem-solving in any field in the presence of conflicting priorities
•   Demonstrated ability to use software effectively to manage and process data
•   Demonstrated ability in use of general information technology
•   Experience working directly with students, or in a similar customer-service oriented position
•   Excellent time management, scheduling and organization skills
•   Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

•   Master’s Degree
•   Experience planning degree programmes for students
•   Experience in using software to manage class scheduling and student data
•   Experience as a university administrator providing services to and interacting with students and faculty

Duties

Students:

•   Meet with re-admitted students and students who are out of synch with their cohort to map out the best path to graduation
•   Monitor students’ academic progress, especially scholarship students and students on probation and warning
•   Trouble-shoot academic issues with students, faculty, and administrative staff, and follow-up with all stakeholders on decisions taken
•   Advise students on course selection and academic success strategies
•   Communicate effectively with students on new directions and initiatives as per academic policies

Faculty and Administration:

•   Collate and report information for the Provost, Associate Registrar (Academic Records) and external entities
•   Advise the Provost, Dean of Students, and Associate Registrar (Academic Records) on potential policies and areas of concern for students
•   Assist the Associate Registrar (Academic Records) with scheduling, degree audits, and following up on particular cases
•   Communicate and follow up with faculty regarding the eligibility of students in a class, or other information relevant to student success in a class
