A reputable educational institution in the Central Region of Ghana is seeking to recruit qualified and experienced people for the following roles: Dean of Students

Purpose

• The job holder is to oversee all academic and student affairs functions within the University system including policy development and implementation management and provide leadership to the academic and academic-related units of the university

Essential Duties

• The counseling and placement of student
• The provision of chaplaincy services through the chaplaincy board to students and other members of the university
• The resolution of conflict between students and halls and hostels of residence as well as conflicts involving students outside of halls and hostels
• Making representation to the university about ways of enhancing the quality of student's life
• Ensuring that maintenance of cordial relations among the various student groups and the student body as a whole to ensure that they obtain maximum benefit from their university experience
• Ensuring the orderly organisation of students activities within the university
• Providing leadership to all bodies and activities that promote the well-being of students of the university
• Overseeing the formation of student associations
• Working with student groups and the sports Directorate in developing extra-curricular programmes and activities of the university
• Co-coordinating with the groups to encourage the participation of students in the activities that promote personal growth and development of students
• Encouraging the development of a student culture that encourages exercise of leadership, respect for diversity and responsibility for personal actions
• Ensuring that any disciplinary action imposed on any students by the recognised authority of the university are compiled with
• Giving permission to students to go on protest marches and demonstrations whether within or outside the university

Qualification Required & Experience

• Must have a Masters or PHD in higher education or a related field
• Record of successful academic accomplishments

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years experience in a student focused academic administrative, advisory or management responsibility
• Experience in academic planning, programme and policy development and leadership
• Be of unblemished character and have a high degree of personal integrity
