Job Vacancy For Academic Affairs Manager At Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons (GCPS)



The Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons (GCPS) was established in 2003 by an Act of Parliament, Act 635 and is responsible for postgraduate training in medicine, surgery and related disciplines in Ghana. The GCPS is made up of two Divisions, the Division of Physicians and the Division of Surgeons. A Vice-President heads each Division.

Job Summary

Coordinate the education and training functions of the College to meet quality standards

Job Responsibility

•   In charge of the Academic Affairs Department of the College and Secretary to the Education and Research Committee
•   Device and establish quality procedures, standards and specifications to ensure that the products or services of the College are fit for purpose, consistent and meet both external and internal requirements
•   Monitor performance by gathering relevant data and produce statistical reports
•   Supervise arrangements for the conduct of examinations, admissions and training of residents.
•   Ensure that the procedures on the admission of residents are applied as contained in the Regulations
•   Coordinate the development and maintenance of a test item bank
•   Supervise the organization of local and international educational and training programmes of the College including the Annual General and Scientific Meeting
•   Supervise the accreditation of training centres and training sites
•   Coordinate the periodic review of the curricula of the Faculties under the College
•   Perform any other related duty that may be assigned by your superior officer

Qualification Required & Experience

The Candidates must satisfy the following requirements:

•   A Master's degree in the natural or physical sciences or Public Health from a recognized university
•   A minimum of seven (7) years post-qualification experience on the job of academic affairs in a tertiary education institution
•   Membership of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons or equivalent
•   qualification from a recognized institution would be an advantage.

•   Must be principled on the values of credibility and confidentiality
•   Must pay attention to detail
•   Proficiency in Microsoft office suite and a use of statistical software
