Job Summary

We have a vacancy for Accounting Assistant in our country office in Tamale, Ghana. The Accounting Assistant will be responsible for assisting Country Office Finance Manager with accounting processes such as accounts payable, travel and purchase requests, general ledger, audits, monthly closings; and entering, updating and running reports using prescribed accounting software to achieve required results.

The responsibilities of the position include the following:

•   Procurement and administrative support that involved, processing payments documents, supporting the Senior Administrative Assistant, handling petty cash, updating and reconciling differences in accounting records and maintaining a cheque register
•   Budget and cash flow administration, including reviewing employee travel advances, processing of account receivables and preparing reconciliation accounts and depositing funds into bank accounts
•   Financial reporting aspect of the role include entering, updating and retrieving accounting data and transaction from QuickBooks account software, and posting financial transactions; and preparation of bank reconciliation and country office month end financial reports for review by Country Office Finance Manager.
•   Project accounting and monitoring, and other duties as assigned under the supervision of the Country Office Finance Manager
•   Complying with all CCFC policies and procedures; and performing other related duties as assigned

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Degree in Accounting and Finance, or equivalent accounting qualification.
•   3 years progressive work experience in accounting and financial management that includes financial analysis, reporting and budgeting.
•   At least 2 years’ of experience working with financial software such as QuickBooks software or other reporting systems, spreadsheet and word-processing applications.
•   Excellent oral and written skills in English with ability to clearly and concisely communicate ideas to a variety of audiences.
•   Demonstrated ability to prioritize own work under pressure and within guidelines.
•   Ability to manage the arduous physical and emotional strains of the job.
•   Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
•   Ability to quickly learn and apply new system procedures as they are introduced
