It was founded to undertake integrated development research, design and manage development programmes to improve the lives of people. Since its inception, ISRAD has implemented various projects in the northern part of Ghana.

ISRAD is currently seeking a Accounts Officer for an anticipated project focused on Behavior Change Communication (BCC) initiative for the promotion of the use of microscopes and/or RDTS for malaria diagnosis.

Reporting Relationships
The Accounts Officer is responsible to the Finance Manager.
The Accounts Officer will work with Program Manager as required

Position Summary

The Accounts Officer is responsible for providing financial, administrative services in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate financial and administrative operations. The Accounts Officer must comply with established accounting policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
Major Task Headings:

•   Develop/institutionalize strong internal control mechanism (financial and
•   administrative systems) for the project
•   This covers processing and monitoring of payments and expenditures
•   Preparation and monitoring of the payroll system.
•   Ensuring that IDM finances are accurate and up to date.
•   Ensuring that IDM staffs are paid in a timely and appropriate manner and that vendors and suppliers are paid within established time limits.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

•   Oversee financial systems for the program, including all DFID and ISRAD‘s compliant financial management, accounting, and procurement systems.
•   Managing and controlling of the organization’s finances.
•   The Accounts Officer will also monitor burn rates and track expenditures

•   To make sure that the monthly and other annual and periodic financial reports are forwarded to management and donors within the stipulated deadlines
•   Preparation of monthly management accounts.
•   Preparation of the organization’s monthly bank reconciliations statements.
•   Ensuring preparation of payroll and income tax returns.
•   Maintenance of fixed assets register and safeguarding of the organizations fixed assets.
Ensuring that the cash book and petty cash are updated on daily basis.
•   He/She will ensure that proper financial and programmatic documentation related to expenditures is submitted and filed.
•   To assist and provide training to field staff in finance and other related areas as appropriate for proper maintenance of their books of accounts, inventory and fixed assets records.
•   Preparation of monthly reconciliations
•   Preparation of Budget
•   Preparation and monitoring of the payroll system
•   Carry any other duties as may be directed by the director

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting
•   Minimum 3 years in a similar position most preferably with NGOs
•   Computer proficiency in MS office and accounting packages preferably QuickBooks
•   Ability to work independently while being a strong team player
•   Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
