Job Description

The Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG), an NGO and a member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), and a leading provider of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) information, education and services, hereby invites result-oriented and committed person to apply for the following vacant position to be filled in the Association.

Location: PPAG Head Office, Accra
Report to: Director of Programmes

Job Purpose:

To assist in the development and implementation of programmes that will re-position the Association and SRHR issues through advocacy, networking and capacity building.

Key Responsibilities:

• To establish and develop a National Advocacy working network from all sectors of civil society.
• Contribute to undertake research to support the work of the network.
• To ensure that Project partners and other advocacy activities are represented and synergized into the advocacy strategy for PPAG.
• To identify country, regional and global advocacy opportunities and develop audience appropriate messages and ensure suitable delivery mechanisms.
• Research and contribute to the writing of publication/policy papers
• Ensure that processes for media briefings and launches for campaign and publications are well developed.
• Develop a sustainability plan in conjunction with the network to ensure its future.
• Prepare and keep proper records for partners and user departments.
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.
• Develop operational advocacy plans for the Association and communicate same to Senior Management Team (SMT) and line managers
• Facilitate consultations and partnership building with partners and stakeholders
• Build up private sector promotional network
• To assist in developing and implementing strategic marketing policies that will enhance the image of the Association
• Assist in carrying out resource mobilization activities

Qualifications Required & Experience

A second degree in Public Health, Social Sciences or any other related field with a minimum of 5years working experience of which 3 should be in the area of managing SRHR Advocacy programmes

The Person Must:

• Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of SRHR partners in country, regionally and globally.
• Ability to source for information, strategize and determine new trends and opportunitiesMust have working knowledge and skills in the delivery of SRHR programmes
• Have strong analytical and judgmental skills
• Have excellent networking, lobbying, advocacy and very good negotiation skills
• Have a very good presentation, communication, and report writing skills
• Be honest, transparent and reliable
• Have excellent human relations skills, youth friendly and a team player.
• Be able to work for long hours and under pressure
• Must be able to work with little or no supervision
• Ability to travel at short notices
