Job Summary

The Area Manager manages the brand portfolio of online stores within a country or region. He/She ensures shop floor operational excellence of all functional activities. Ensuring execution of retail instructions and plans, sometimes as a hierarchical boss, sometimes facilitating functional leaders in instructing shopfloor staff. The Area manager is the linkpin between the local organisation and the central retail team. Engaging with VAC management, informing with transparency, based on teamwork. Ensure strong relationships with the VAC heads of facilitating depts. (HRD, Warehouse, Logistics, Finance, and Marketing Services) Lead by example.

Key Accountabilities

Management

•   Manage Shop Supervisors
•   Bridge management layers (functional managers instructing shopfloor staff)
•   Man age management workstreams between (1) Shops, (2) Central retail team, and (3) local VAC
•    Facilitating depts. (HRM, Finance, Warehouse, logistics, ICT, etc.

Shop Management

Coaches Shop Supervisors and Sales Staff in Operating the stores and managing goals and priorities to achieve the Sales target in units and in values by:

•   Controlling the operational sales activities in the stores in line with central retail instructions
•   Supporting and controlling the use of the Store Manual
•   Analyzing sales figures and implementing KPI's (key performance indicators)
•   Developing best practices
•   Proposing changes to improve the business and the communication with headquaters

Merchandise and Store Image Management

•   Ensure OTIP execution of central merchandise management instructions, ensure feedback loop
•   Ensure OTIP execution of central marketing management instructions, ensure feedback loop
•   Ensure work processes in operating the store
•   Ensure that the processes in operating the store
•   Ensures that the aspired store atmosphere is realized
•   Ensures that defined service levels are realized
•   Checks results of stores in terms of consumer appreciation and takes appropriate actions.

Human Resource Management

•   Organises, manages, develops and staffing the stores in line with recruitment processess and corporate staffing guidelines
•   Creating a transparent, proactive and motivating environment where people take responsibility, including, leading, managing and coaching the shop managers in order to increase sales ensure efficiency
•   Motivating and inspiring the shop managers and sales staff
•   Setting clear goals and targets for shop managers
•   Controlling the daily tasks of the shop managers, providing regular feedback and evaluations of their performance
•   Interviewing potential staff, conducting appraisals and performance reviews
•   Maintaining proper staff planning to ensure correct staffing of the shops at all times
•   Developing staff and giving training sessions

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Bachelor Degree in Sales
•   5 years of experience in a sales management role
•   Some experience in Retail or Branded business

Language Skills

•   Excellent English both written and spoken is a must
•   Good French would be a plus
