Job Purpose

•   To assist the provision of cartographic services for the commission

Working Environment

Office - based with occasional field visit

Duties

•   Assist in plotting new applications on to the records
•   Assist in undertaking occasional field/site vists for possible conflict resolution using the maps
•   Assist in carrying out searches on mineral tile
•   Assist in updating cartographic data regularly
•   Assist in resolving boundary conflicts
•   Assist in digitising maps
•   Assist in reporting any breach of the mapped areas operation to the appropriate Dept/Unit for action
•   Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time

Qualification Required & Experience

•   First Degree in Geosciences or equivalent professional qualification from Cartographic institution with 3 years post  qualification working experience in a related field

Skills / Competencies

•   Very good interpersonal relationship and effective in dealing with people and colleagues
•   Ability to work under pressure
•   Acute understanding of Mining and the Minerals Industry
•   Literate in GIS or Arc GIS
•   Able to work neatly and accurately, paying attention to detail
•   Team player
•   Strong analytical skills
