Job Vacancy For Chief Executive



Job Purpose

Under the guidance of the Board, the Chief Executive shall bear the responsibility to ensure that the hospital is working efficiently by striking a balance in managing the day-to-day operations while leading strategic development initiatives required for long-term growth, development and full optimization of the hospital. Specifically, the Chief Executive shall perform the following functions:

• Directly supervises top directors in-charge of Medical Care, Nursing Services, Administration and support Services, Pharmacy, Finance, Human Resources and other heads of analogous directorates
• Answerable for implementation of Board policies and decisions
• Responsiblefor planning and implementation of appropriate health care services that deliver the best quality to patients
• Provide a strong but visionary leadership while creating a positive and productive culture for the success of the hospital
• Setting objectives and pursuing standards for operational and outstanding excellence in, patient care, training and research
• Hire and retain qualified staff
• Implement clinical procedure and policy
• Safeguard and enforce required compliance with relevant regulations of the country as well as internationally accepted health care standards
• Develop a strong and mutually beneficial relationship with outside organisations and key stakeholders, including the medical community, referring health facilities and medical practitioners, regulatory agencies, suppliers and the media
• Develop, promote and position the hospital as a high class referrals-only facility and a medical tourism destination for the West Africa Sub-region and beyond
• Create a clean and healthy environment that enhances the corporate image of the hospital at all times and deliver a strong financial performance

Qualification Required & Experience

Candidates seeking this position must:

• The Chief Executive Must be a physician or an administrator with at least 10 years experience in hospital management, the last 5 years of which should have been at top management level
• Physicians should be experts in a medical specialty, and it would be an advantage to also have a Masters degree in health administration. Non-physicians should have a degree in either Health Administration or Health Management or Health planning or Health Policy or Health Economics. A Masters degree in business administration or Hospitality Management would be a great advantage
• Also, familiarity with the health system of Ghana and relevant laws that impact on health care and health management and appreciation of the diverse cultural norms and practices in Ghana would be an advantage
• The Chief Executive is also expected to understand global health care dynamics, medical economics, financial reporting, marketing and public relations, and s/he must be able to construct business plans and set logical tasks for the hospital with a precise timetable.
• S/he will must be able to prioritise demands
• The suitable candidate for Chief Executive must have a congenial nature and be respectful of customers and staff

• Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to relate well to all levels of users
• Possess strong leadership skills and motivational skills
• Must have excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to arrive methodical process of problem solving which includes considering a variety of solutions
• Must be able to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
• Must be willing to be flexible with work schedule to get job done, as required
• Must be able to manage multiple projects and meet established deadlines
• Must be a team player as well as self-motivated to be able to work independently and possess a customer focused mentality
• Must possess a strong work ethic, be trustworthy and maintain a high degree of integrity
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office skills in Word, Excel and Access
