Job Vacancy For Conference & Banqueting Sales Manager



Labadi Beach Hotel is seeking to recruit a Conference & Banqueting Sales Manager.

Main Purpose of the Job

• Oversees all aspects of a banquet or event, including setup, menu section and food. Presentation, serving and cleanup while focusing on detail and quality presentation and customer service
• Responsible for all aspects of supervision of banquet staff, including hiring, training, coaching, disciplining and reviewing banquet staff

Specific Responsibilities

Sales

• To solicit for banqueting business through active selling so as to achieve budgeted revenues
• To monitor activities of all competitors in the banqueting business with regard to product pricing and promotion

Administration

• Plan, organise and process all function bookings successfully by maintaining accurate records and ensuring the same are reproduced in order to assist in the actual execution of the function
• Ensure weekly banquet meetings are held between the banqueting team, kitchen and the support departments to review and plan for the upcoming events
• Ensure all banqueting menus and rates are up to date in liaison with the F&B Manager.
• Ensure all contractual agreements between the hotel and the clients are always signed before any function in line with the hotels policies and procedures

Human Resource

• Ensure effective orientation and training of the new banqueting staff
• Initiate disciplinary proceedings for conference and banqueting staff failing to adhere to company policies and procedures
• Ensure the preparation of the banqueting roster for the week paying specific attention to contractual staff requirements in relation to the projected volume of business

Finance

• Ensures that all functions are fully paid up front
• Closely monitors and ensures that credit is only extended to clients who have current approved credit facilities with the hotel
• Exceeds annual budgeted banqueting food and beverage revenue and maintains budgeted banqueting costs

Health and Safety

• Ensures that all banqueting staff are aware of the fire and emergency procedures of the hotel

Qualification Required & Experience

• BSc Degree in Hospitality Management / HND Hotel Management
• Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar position in a 5 star hotel
• Computer literacy in Microsoft office, excel & power point
• Should have a good understanding of the various cooking and serving styles of food and a fair knowledge of the different kinds of beverage on the menu
• Should have an excellent understanding of the various set up styles and their configuration within a given square footage
• Outstanding sales skills and closing the sale skills
• Should have knowledge of staffing guidelines/requirements for various types of banquet and coference functions
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction
• Ability to plan, forecast and execute functions and equally plan for manpower requirement
• Ability to engage clients and convince them to book a function
