Job Vacancy For Construction Site Foreman At Sabre Charitable Trust (Takoradi)



Main Role / Purpose

The Site Manager is responsible for running an efficient site to ensure project delivery. This involves all aspects of site management, including labour, health & safety, materials, stores and reporting. Close collaboration with the volunteer coordinator will be essential to schedule volunteer inputs on site.

Main Responsibilities

Key areas of responsibility are:

Site Management

•   Ensure that the project runs to schedule, and that the works carried out are to a satisfactory standard for sign off by the Building Projects Engineer.
•   Ensure that all statutory requirements (e.g. Municipal Assembly, EPA etc) are adhered to on site at all times.
•   Set daily work schedules with the site foreman.
•   Measure progress against project programmes, marking drop-lines on a monthly basis.
    
Health, Safety & Environment

•   Monitor the implementation of site health and safety procedures.
•   Complete incident reports for any HSE related incident on site.
•   Hold the weekly job site safety meeting and record it in the log book for future references.

Stores Management

•   Responsibility for the distribution, management and safe keeping of all materials and tools held on site.
•   Making sure employees have tools and equipment needed for the job in order to ensure a good output.
•   Completing a weekly stock take, identifying tools or equipment in need of repair or write off, to inform the weekly report and forecast.
•   Ensure the Procurement & Logistics Manager is provided with sufficient notice when plant and equipment are free to go to another site.

Reporting

•   Preparing a weekly report to cover: a) progress of works, and b) materials/tools received and used.
•   Preparing a weekly forecast of: a)materials/tools required, and b) schedule of impending works.

Quality Control

•   Prior to the commencement of site works, work with the Building Projects Manage to gain an understanding of the relevant project specifications and drawings.
•   On an ongoing basis, monitor all works against specifications to ensure the continuing quality and accuracy of work performed.
•   Work with the site foreman to rectify any defects, mistakes, errors, contamination or variations.

People Management

•   Make self-available as coach/mentor in assisting Site Foreman to develop in his position, and helping him as he learns new tasks.
•   Recruit the site team, and ensure that they are competent for the roles allocated to them.
•   Manage and discipline the site team, reporting any positive and negative issues to the Building Projects Manger.
•   Ensure all reasonable steps are taken in order to achieve industrial harmony within the site team at all times.
•   Supervise the activities of international volunteers on site, providing health and safety briefings before they commence

Qualification Required & Experience

•   5 years of experience working on a construction site, minium of 3 years as a Site Manager.
•   Construction site management experience
•   An interest in and understanding of sustainable building technologies
•   Demonstrable commitment to the aims and objectives of the SCT
•   Dynamic self starter, able to work to pre-defined targets on own initiative
•   Strong communication skills
•   Good organisational skills
•   Good prioritisation skills
•   Good report writing skills
•   Strong team player, but must have the ability to work independently
