Job Vacancy For Consultant (Zonation of the Volta Lake) At Fisheries Commission



The Consultant will carry out a comprehensive zoning of the Volta Lake for aquaculture development taking into consideration other user rights (transport, electricity, tourism, fishing, etc.).

Desired Services
The assignment of the Consultant for Zonation of the Volta Lake covers the following tasks:

•   Develop a zoning plan taking into consideration
Carrying capacity
Site selection
Disease control
Environmental considerations
Socio-economic factors
•   Infrastructural needs.
•   Determine and collect relevant data for zonation of the Volta Lake system;
•   Develop a map showing high priority areas for aquaculture development on the Volta Lake including species;
•   Determine maximum aquaculture production (biomass) for the clusters of high priority areas identified;
•   Carry out comprehensive zonation according to international standards;
•   Train FC on zonation plans;
•   Provide  FC  with  the  developed  software  of the  zonation  after  the completion of the assignment.

Duration of Assignment
The appointment is for six man-months over a period of twelve calendar months commencing August 2014 with possibility of extension.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Candidate must possess a minimum of Master's degree with at least ten years' experience in a related field;
•   Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English language is essential);
•   Demonstrated ability to deliver tasks within set deadlines;
•   Commitment to work effectively as part of a team, sharing expertise collaborating and mentoring;
•   Minimum of five years' experience in working with local stakeholders preferably in fishing or other resource use context.
