Job Vacancy For Deans At University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) – (Volta Region)



The following Deanship in the University of Health and Allied Sciences will become vacant on September 1, 2014. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the positions in the following Schools

•   The School of Public Health (Hohoe)
•   The School of Allied Health Sciences (Ho)
•   The School of Nursing and Midwifery (Ho)

POSITION SUMMARY
A Dean of a school is usually a Professor and a member of the Academic Board .He/she is the academic and the administrative head of the school to which he/she is Dean and is expected to initiate policies and programmes that will guide the development of the School.

Deans of the University of Health and Allied Sciences are required to:

•   Provide academic direction for their Schools
•   Lead in the development of programmes and their accreditation
•   Oversee the management of Departments  and other units within the school
•   Guide  the recruitment of qualified academic staff
•   Mentor young faculty of other Schools
•   Lead in raising funds for their Schools and programmes
•   Promote research within their Schools and across the University
•   Lead in service to communities within which the University is Located

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Candidates must have a terminal qualification in a relevant /related profession
•   They must be at least Associate Professors in relevant disciplines in the Schools listed
•   They must have considerable experience  in managing  an  academic  institution or directing  units/programmes within academic institutions
•   Candidates must be able to serve at least one term of three (3) years before attaining the compulsory retiring age of 60.
