Job Vacancy For Director of Economics Statistics At Ghana Statistics Service



Job Purpose
To provide strategic leadership, technical and operational direction for the implementation of the programmes and activities of the Economic Statistics Directorate.

Duties and Responsibilities

•   Validates the business register, data collection instruments and data generated by the Directorate
•   Periodically reviews and benchmarks the price, production and other economic indices
•   Periodically reviews and updates economic statistics methodologies and classifications
•   Coordinates the collection, processing, analysis and dissemination of economic statistics
•   Prepares technical and financial proposals
•   Develops Terms of Reference for consultants assigned to the Directorate and coordinates their activities
•   Prepares and submits quarterly, annual and other periodic reports on the Economic Statistics Directorate to the Deputy Government Statistician for Operations
•   Coordinates and oversees the preparation of economic statistics reports in accordance with the Data Quality Assessment Framework, the UN Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics, the African Charter for Statistics and other international standards
•   Coordinates the organization of seminars on economic statistics for key stakeholders
•   Validates economic data generated in response to both internal and external requests

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A minimum of a Master’s degree from an accredited tertiary institution in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics or related fields
•   Minimum of ten years relevant work experience, five years of which must be in a senior management position in a reputable statistical or research institution

•   Knowledge of the Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651); Public Procurement Act, 2003 (Act 663); Financial Administration Act 2003 (Act 654) and Internal Audit Agency Act, 2003 (Act 658)
