Job Vacancy For Driver At High Commission of Canada



The High Commission of Canada in Accra, Ghana seeks an experienced Driver for its Management and Consular Services Section on an Emergency, Term or Indeterminate Employment basis.

Under the supervision of the Deputy Management and Consular Officer this role provides transportation for authourised passengers, performs delivery and collection of materials, provides messenger services and ensures the proper maintenance of assigned Official Vehicles. Performs other duties as required.

Operational Requirements:

•   Required to be in good health with vision appropriate to operate to a main duty of driver (with or without visual aids e.g. glasses)
•   Ability to work overtime is essential

Conditions of Employment:

•   Valid Class F Driving Licence

Salary Range:

•   Starting GHS6,219 per year with annual increases

ESSENTIAL  QUALIFICATIONS
Language:

•   Fluent English (comprehension, written and spoken).

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Senior Secondary School Certificate.

Experience:

•   Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a driver in a dipiomatic mission, government establishment or multi-national company responsible for passenger clientele.
•   Minimum 5 years of experience driving passengers in Accra overall (including experience above)

Recent is defined as in the last 5 years

Knowledge:

•   Knowledge of local geography and driving routes.
•   Knowledge of means of transportation to reach important destination points.
•   Knowledge of health and  safety regulations related to driving
•   Knowledge of driving routes in Togo/Lome.

Abilities/Competencies:

•   Ability to read and understand road maps, GPS systems, and road signs.
•   Planning and organisation ability to co-ordinate conflicting priorities and perform to tight deadlines.
•   Effective communication both orally and in writing.
•   Teamwork
•   Ability to analyse and interpret information quickly and efficiently according to established criteria working under pressure.

Asset Qualifications
Training:

•   Training in defensive driving, health and safety and first aid

Language

•   French (spoken and written)

•   Working in an office environment doing light office duties and working with computers
