Job Vacancy For Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator



A world leader drilling company is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator.

Main Purpose / Job Summary

• The EHS Advisor partners with field staff, field supervisors and management to provide a safe workplace

The role includes the following key tasks

• Support/coach on EHS matters to field staff, field supervisors, and country or area management to perform their task in line with zero EHS incident policy
• Utilise and improve site risk management tools, including risk registers, inspection programmes, plant and project risk assessments, emergency planning and SVVP/JSEA's or as introduced by the company
• Routinely conduct workplace audits and rig inspections to monitor work activities and ensure compliance with client, company and government regulations
• Assist and or lead start-of-hitch, daily/weekly safety meetings and conduct post-incident investigations
• Accompany injured employees on doctor visits to represent the company's interest in the ongoing care of employees and their return to work
• Partner with management to maintain the necessary documentation to comply with client, company and government regulations
• Assist with developing written programmes to meet client, company and government regulations
• Enter and check quality of incident data and other required information into the Global EHS MAnagement System (GEMS)
• Routinely conduct workshop and living quarter safety inspections and obtain needed certifications to perform necessary duties and train others
• Develop additional safety skills and credentials by attending selected courses and clinics
• Interact with client safety representative, as required and promote Boart Longyear's delivery of safe profitability and growth
• Report routinely to Zone EHS Manager and Zone Manager EHS lead and laf indicators and review zone trends
• Assist in EHS functions, including, scheduling, evaluation of candidates, hiring and training
• Identify statutory and company global employee training requirements and ensure compliance through management of the delivery of structured training
• Assist in conduct of investigation and incident reporting
• Assist in preparation of internal and 3rd party preparation of ISO 14001 and OHSAS18001 audits

Qualification Required & Experience

• Demonstrated application of CBT programmes in operational environment such as heavy industry, mining (mineral drilling highly regarded)
• Experience and aptitude for coaching and assessing operations in EHS systems, tools, processes and risk based programmes
• Ability to show initiative, work autonomously and plan for the delivery of local and global EHST programmes
• Demonstrated ability to work across disciplines, engage others and contribute as a team player
• Ability to establish and develop rapport with key stakeholders across operations, including clients and operations
• Minimum of a Diploma / First Degree - Occupational Health and Safety (with more than 5 years of EHS experience)

Desirable education and experience

• Cert IV Mineral Drilling Practices (DRT03 Series)
• Audit qualification in EHS Management Systems
• Previous overseas work assignments with foreign cultures Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in the use of MS Office tools
• Willingness to travel, as required to work sites, including overnight stays
• Exceptional people skills, able to develop trust based relationships
