Job Vacancy For Finance and Administration Officer At Solidaridad West Africa (SWA) – (Accra and Kumasi)



Solidaridad West Africa is a not-for-profit organization that supports the sustainable development of farmers and production systems in West Africa, through the enhancement of value chains of fresh and processed agricultural commodities and other non-agricultural commodities.

Our activities in West Africa are focused on fresh fruits, oil palm, gold, cotton, maize, soy and cocoa. As the Regional Expertise Center (REC) within Solidaridad’s international network, we are part of a growing global movement advocating and supporting sustainable and responsible production and trade. Solidaridad trains producers in best practices to produce more with less.

We provide capacity building to producer organizations and enable them to access knowledge, inputs, finance and markets. We develop and promote the integration of good economic, social and environmental management into standard business and production practices.

Solidaridad regional office is based in Accra, Ghana and currently has program activities and operations in Senegal, Mali, Cote D’Ivoire, Nigeria, Ghana and Cameroon

Job Summary

The Finance and Administration Officer must be willing to work in either Accra or Kumasi.

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

Finance

•   Monitor income, expenditure and undertake monthly bank reconciliation
•   Prepare journals and make entries into the tally accounting software
•   Keep relevant books and records for all financial transactions
•   Ensuring that banking arrangements are adequate to support the operational activities and that all bank transactions conform to agreed procedures and are appropriately documented
•   Provide advice and guidance in financial matters to Project Managers
•   Ensure compliance with Solidaridad finance manual
•   Maintain the assets register of the office and for specific projects as assigned
•   Prepare monthly specific project financial reports as assigned
•   Assist during annual organizational and specific project audit.
•   Assist in the preparation of budget and annual plans

Administration

•   Ensure that agreed administrative procedures and guidelines are adhered to
•   Manage the utilization of resources, ie. Assets; stationery, vehicles
•   Manage the administrative aspects of procurement and financial management
•   Ensure that security systems are adequate and operational at all times
•   Supervision and oversight of the administration support staff
•   Perform any other administrative duties as may be assigned to her/him from time to time by the Programme Manager.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A first degree in Business Administration (Accounting Option) or HND in Accounting with ACCA/CIMA part 2
•   At least three years of working experience with an international organization/ NGO in a similar position
•   Very good knowledge in project accounting
•   Computer literacy and competent with the use of excel, accounting software and other officer suits
