The U.S. Embassy in Accra, Ghana is seeking an individual for the position of a FINANCIAL CLERK in the Financial Management Center (FMC) of the Embassy.

POSITION NO: A53001

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION

•   The incumbent reports to the Financial Management Officer (FMO). S/he provides administrative support to 1 US Direct Hire (USDH) and 12+ Foreign Service National (FSN)/Locally-Employed Staff (LE Staff) positions. S/he types correspondence to include cables, letters and memoranda; and drafts standard, non-technical correspondence
as requested. Responsible for establishing and maintaining files and keeping track of a variety of FMC documentation and information distributed.

•   Maintains a voucher tracking system to ensure all documents for payment are logged in and out; in addition, notifies payees when checks and vouchers are processed. Orders and maintains an inventory of office supplies and equipment and functions as the FMC timekeeper maintaining records of attendance and leave; provides factual information in a courteous manner to visitors and callers; and manages appointment schedule for the Financial Management Officer (FMO) and Financial Specialist. Performs other duties as assigned by FMO or Financial Specialist

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Completion of secondary school is required. Additional training in office management and secretarial skills is also required
•   Three years of progressive secretarial/administrative work experience is required.
•   English level III (Good working knowledge) of the written and spoken language is required. Job holder will be able to read and understand, for example, regulations, instructions and related material concerning the field of work, and to prepare correspondence and standardized reports. Job holder will be able to communicate effectively with staff members of the public in the language. Language proficiency will be tested.
•   Must have good knowledge of general office procedures, filing systems and office procedures.
•   Must have typing skill level 1 (30-40 wpm). Must be proficient in the following computer programs: Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Computer skills will be tested.

SELECTION PROCESS

When equally qualified, US Citizen Eligible Family Members (AEFMs) and U.S. Veterans will be given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate address the required qualifications above in the application.

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA

•   Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
•   Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
•   Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
•   Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold FMA appointment are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
•   Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.

Starting Salary: GH¢17,870.00 p.a.
