POSITION TITLE: Accounts Officer

KEY PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Accounts Officer is responsible for providing financial and administrative services in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate financial and administrative operations. The Accounts Officer must comply with established accounting policies and procedures.

MAJOR TASK HEADINGS

•   Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information.
•   Ensure compliance with established accounting policies and procedures.
•   Documenting and ensuring that vendors and suppliers are paid within established time limits.
•   Maintain financial security by following internal controls.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•   Handle PAYE, SSNIT and other statutory deductions and payment in a timely manner
•   Prepare payments by verifying all relevant documentations.
•   Documenting financial transactions and entering account information.
•   Ensure timely collection of all outstanding account receivables.
•   Prepare daily sales invoices and reporting with ageing analysis.
•   Update all accounts receivable ledgers.
•   Answering accounts receivable and Payables inquiries.
•   Monitor customer account details for non-payments, delayed payments or other irregularities and provide needed support for collection.
•   Prepare collection reports to ascertain status of collections and balances outstanding to evaluate effectiveness of current collection policies and procedures.
•   Prepare and submit reports to the Head of Finance as will be specified.
•   Reconcile entire Customers (debtors and Suppliers’) ledger monthly.
•   Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
•   Perform any other related duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Finance Manager.

Qualification Required & Experience

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENT

•   A minimum of an MBA / MSc in accounting plus foundation in any professional certification
•   At least 3-5 years working experience
•   Ability to use QuickBooks
•   Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills
•   Possess excellent interpersonal skills and must be able to work in a team environment as well as work independently.
