Job Vacancy For Accounts Officer – Receivable



AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited, Obuasi Gold Mine is currently near completion of the redevelopment phase to become a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation has been fully mechanized and designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.

We are seeking experienced and self-motivated person to join our team as: ACCOUNTS OFFICER - RECEIVABLE

The Accounts Officer - Receivables is to provide direct output support to the Superintendent: Payable & Receivable and assist in the accounts payable & receivable functions which includes cash flow forecasting creditors’ payments, bullion shipment & accounting, creditors and debtors management. The role also ensures all tax related statutory reports such as VAT, PAYE, royalties and WHT taxes are compiled and filed per requirements. The Accounts payable & receivable section is in charge of mine-wide treasury functions and ensures compliance with applicable legislation in the management of both service and operating contracts. The appointed person is expected to be deeply involved throughout the redevelopment project lifecycle including assisting in contract and services invoices validation and timely payment, Bank reconciliation and SAP system based Vendor reconciliations.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Assess risks for all tasks and ensure they are controlled before and during task execution.
• Report all incidents and ensure they have been investigated and corrective actions completed on time.
• Act on all corrective actions assigned to you or under your jurisdiction and ensure timely completion.
• Ensure compliance with Safety KPIs including, reporting all incidents and acting on all corrective actions assigned for timely completion.
• Enforce environmental work procedures issued by the Departmental Manager.
• Investigate environmental incidents in assigned work areas.
• Attend all scheduled and assigned environmental training meetings
• Processing of invoices (both Local & Foreign) and generating remittance and cheques.
• Ensure that invoices, which attract VAT and Withholding tax, are properly accounted for.
• Reconciliation of local supplier’s statements.
• Reconciliation of Local advance payment account.
• Reconciliation of all foreign payments in All currencies
• Setting up invoices due for payment on the E-Banking Platform
• Generating Daily bank statements for Reconciliation
• Transmitting payments approved by the Signatories.
• Providing information on payment effected as per E-Banking records.
• Prepare weekly dollar cash flow
• Respond to supplier’s queries.
• Supervise processing of foreign payments.
• Send out supplier’s circularization for statements and co-ordinate reconciliation
• Responsible for VAT and Tema Ports tax returns
• Prepare cedi cash flow.
• Supervise preparation and printing of local (cedi) cheques.
• Reconcile Goods In Transit (GIT) against General Ledger (G/L) Accounts.
• Supervise the reconciliation of local supplier’s statements.
• Accounting for Bullion transactions.
• Raise debit notes for customers and collect overdue receivables.
• Ensure that customers settle their debt on time.
• Ensure the preparation of timely withholding tax schedule to facilitate payment to GRA
• Reconcile all accounts receivables and other accounts, over 20 accounts in all.
• Ageing of debtors

Qualification Required & Experience

• A degree in Accounting, HND (Accounting option) or either ACCA , CIMA, ICAG Part 2 qualification.

Experience

• At least 2 - 3 years’ experience in a mining environment.

Technical Competencies

• Must be computer literate with significant proficiency in Spreadsheets
• Experience and understanding of total mining cycle.
