Job Vacancy For Archives Assistants At Judicial Service of Ghana



The Judicial Service of Ghana invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of ARCHIVES ASSISTANTS.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

•   Cleaning of the records
•   Sorting, listing and arranging of records according to their groups and series
•   Descriptive cataloguing of records, eg. Encoded Archival Description (EAD) etc
•   Scanning of paper-based documents for inclusion in electronic format system
•   Assist in the development of automated storage and retrieval systems
•   Maintain record keeping systems, including database catalog, EAD-encoded finding aids, acquisition register and indexes
•   Transfer of records to archives for permanent perservation
•   Assemble records and create electronic file lists in preparation for records transfer and arrange for their transportation from offices to the repository
•   Assist in the long-term perservation of a range of archival records

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A good First Degree in Information Studies or Diploma in Archives Administration from a recognised institution with a minimum of one (1) year’s post qualification experience;
•   Knowledge of automated information systems applied to archives and records management and information networks would be an advantage
•   Excellent oral and written communication skills
•   Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite
