Job Vacancy For Boilermakers and Welders



A reputable firm in the construction industry for oil and gas with projects in Takoradi invites applications from suitable candidates to fill the following vacant role: Boilermakers and Welders

The Boilermakers are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within both the company and clients worksites and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.

•   Responsibility for the boiler making operation on site.
•   Responsibility for the safe execution of welding activities in support of the construction work programme in accordance with the relevant legislation, company and project procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Boilermaker is responsible for:

•   Lay out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, callipers, and ruler.
•   Observes fit-up and dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.
•   Removes rough spots from work piece, using portable grinder. hand file, or scraper.
•   Heats, forms, and dresses metal parts, using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment.
•   Ignites torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc.
•   Analyses engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding/fitting operations.
•   The welder is responsible for:
•   The full weld execution with quality meeting specification requirements (preheating, grinding and cleaning) and for complying with the safety requirements of the yard.
•   Conformance with all yard safety and operating regulations, following the Permit to Work System (if applicable) at all times in particular, he must ensure that all fire blankets, extinguishers and necessary personnel protection equipment are in place.
•   Ensuring that weld preparations are adequate and comply with the relevant Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) and that full cleaning and degreasing operations have been carried out.
•   Obtaining and using correct Tempilstiks in accordance with preheat and interpass requirements specified in the WPS.

Qualification Required & Experience

1) Candidate must have minimum of technical tertiary education, on-the-job training, relevant additional training or courses attended with at least 5 years of experience in similar position of fabrication in previous job. He must also have significant experience of Hook up activities in a Contractor environment with good knowledge of the Oil & Gas industry.

•   Fluent in English
•   Technical experiences on steel works
•   Basically awareness on Non-Destructive Examination

2) Health, Safety and Environmental courses attended certificates added will be an advantage.
