Job Description

• The Business Development Officer will lead the development and negotiation og high-quality project proposals for funding, maintain and develop donor and partner relations and monitor funding agreements and compliance
• Your technical knowledge and expertise will set strategic direction and innovation in all dimensions of the BD cycle across Caritas Ghana's thematic areas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the development of the overall business strategy, lead and coordinate the search for ways to get money, and the creation of high-quality proposals for institutional donors (government and inter-governmental award issuing organisations, as well as foundations, corporations, and other awarding non-governmental organisations).
• Develop donor profiles, monitor donor priorities, inform solicitation strategies and maintain effective donor relations to ensure continued funding and sustainability
• Lead the development of resource mobilisation agreements, proposals, presentations, briefing notes and representation of the organisation in donor meetings, workshops and other relevant engagements
• Provide BD expertise in positioning, capture planning and proposal preparation for specific opportunities with institutional donors (government and inter-governmental award issuing organisationals, as well as foundations, corporations and other awarding non-governmental organisation)
• Coordinate proposal development processes to ensure timely submission of high-quality proposals that are responsive to donor requirements, applicable regulations and CRS technical and cost standards. Lead and support proposal budget processes and propose recommendations to develop a competitive proposal
• As appropriate, serve as propose recommendations to develop a competitive proposal
• As appropriate, serve as proposal coordinator or other lead role in proposal team and participate in bid analysis and proposal review panels. Serve as a lead or support writer on proposals, contributing inputs from staff and partners into a responsive, coherent proposal with a compelling vision and clear win themes.
• Establish, maintain and coordinate co-finacing efforts for grants at all levels
• Coordinate the conduct of a funding needs assessment for caritas Ghana
• Develop, manage and update Caritas Ghana databases to record contact and other relevant donor / partner information
• Support knowledge management and learning efforts through the creation and updating of Caritas Ghana databases with relevant donor resources, strategic documents, training and learning materials / resources, evaluating strategic projects and capturing and sharing lessons learnt
• Support staff capacity building on resource mobilisation approaches and strategies
• Establish and/or coordinate as well as strengthen partner relations towards joint proposal writing with state, civil society actors and academia
• Contribute to the development, production and dissemination of a newsletter for Caritas Ghana
• Liaise with Communications/PR Officer to publicise relevant highlights on programmes, operations and resource mobilisation activities and impact
• Any other professional duties that may be assigned

Qualification Required & Experience

• A first Degree in Business development studies, project management or a related field of study
• A Master's degree in a related area will be an added advantage
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in resource mobilisation, business development or humanitarian development sector ideally with an international NGO
• Previous experience providing technical assistance and developing successful proposals for external donor funding is required
• Familiarity with relevant institutional donor policies, regulations, procedures and priorities
• Experience in business development, project design and proposal development including technical writing
• Experience and skills in networking (building relations) with donors, peer organisations and faith-based and civil society partners
• Proficient in MS Office packages (Excel, Word, Powerpoint), Web, conferencing applications, information and budget management systems, knowledge-sharing networks

• Excellent relationship management skills with ability to influence and get buy-in from people not under direct supervision and to work with individuals in diverse geographical and cultural settings
• Strong strategic, analytical, problem-solving and systems thinking skills with capacity to see the big picture and ability to make sound judgment

• Excellent negotiation skills
• Strong presentation, facilitation, training, mentoring and coaching skills
