Job Vacancy For Claims Manager



A reputable Plan African non-Life Insurance company is seeking to recruit a dynamic, self-motivated and results-oriented person for the position of Claims Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Implements the claim's strategy and philosophy
• Deals with incoming queries from clients, commercial team members and other third parties in a professional and timely manner
• Actively monitors progress on outstanding claims and provides timely and accurate and current feedback to clients and commercial team members
• Follows organisational guidelines for referral of claims to stakeholders (e.g. early identification of large lossess for Head of Technical, underwriters etc)
• Interprets policy wordings and conditions to determine the validity of claims before the appointment of loss adjuster
• Identifies any opportunities for recoveries and its application on a day-to-day basis
• Evaluates the factors that make up claims reserves, including loss adjusters fees and ensure accurate reserves are maintained
• Handles individual and portfolio of claims cost effectively, minimising claims leakages and meeting organisational and customer claims service standards
• Provides technical and administrative support to the sales executives and account handlers
• Arranges client visits where necessary to facilitate claim process
• Regularly reviews individuals claims within the portfolio and keep reserves and records up to date as required by the company's claims reserving policy
• Identifies issues and trends in the portfolio and takes appropriate andor corrective action
• Manages external partners (such as motor serveyors, motor garages, loss adjusters etc) relationships to ensure that they meet organisational requirements / service standards
• Settles and straightforward claims in line with authority limit and adheres to organisational referral procedures

Qualification Required & Experience

• A good university degree from a recognised university
• A professional qualification in insurance is desirable
• Must have at least 8 years experience in insurance claims management preferably from a non-life insurance institution

• Strong computer literacy skills
• Knowledge of industry regulations and minimum standards to ensure compliance with regulations and company claims and underwriting guidelines or protocols
