Job Vacancy For Communication and Media Relations Officer At Ghana Federation of Disability Organizations (GFD)



The Ghana Federation of Disability Organizations (GFD), formally Ghana Federation of the Disabled (GFD) is seeking to hire a Communication and Media Relations Officer to manage its communication, membership, partnership, and media portfolios at national and local levels.

GFD is a national umbrella organization comprising Ghana Blind Union, Ghana Society of the Physically Disabled, Ghana National Association of the Deaf, Ghana Association of Persons with Albinism, Share Care Ghana, Inclusion Ghana, and Mental Health Society of Ghana.

JOB TITLE: Communication and Media Relations Officer

SUMMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

•   Coordinate GFDs partnership with the media, government, Civil Society Organisation (CSOs) and other development partners
•   Coordinate the development and implementation of Partnership strategy for GFD.
•   Facilitate review and implementation of GFD’s communication and media strategy
•   Maintain regular contact with GFD’s regional and district branches by providing regular information on developments and emerging trends within GFD and the disability movement in Ghana.
•   Maintain a database of GFD member organisations (national and grassroots), DPOs and partners of GFD, and the National Disability Network
•   Maintain a database of service providers of GFD.
•   Work closely with all Officers of GFD to maintain a good brand for the GFD.
•   Manage and regularly update the GFD website
•   Facilitate the development of promotional/publicity materials including newsletters, flyers, etc
•   Coordinate media activities of GFD
•   Maintain social media platforms for GFD, including tweeter, Facebook, WhatsApp, etc.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Proven keen interest in news media and press relations
•   Minimum of two years experience in working with the media or communication firm.
•   Excellent writing skills.
•   Must be able to communicate information in accurate and readable manner in a variety of formats, including press releases, magazines, newsletters, websites and letters, and to targeted audiences.
•   Ability to deliver high quality work on time to a pressured environment.
•   A first degree in Communication/Journalism or any other related field.
•   Strong interpersonal communication skills.
•   Good in using the computer.
