Responsibilities

•   Working closely with advocacy and communications officers as well as Senior management
•   Actively engage the Ghanaian media and public on child rights and slavery, raising pertinent issues and responding to national events on TV, radio, press and online.
•   Disseminate and follow up press releases
•   Write articles seeking to promote the issues and the organisation
•   Organise national press conferences and other media events
•   Actively promote Challenging Heights activities, guided by the communications policy and strategy
•   Respond to media enquiries
•   Represent the organization at appropriate meetings and events as mandated
•   Engage with partners in Development e.g. providing sessions on media engagement
•   Speak in the media on behalf of CH, prints, online, radio, TV, YouTube
•   Writing and publishing articles including features
•   Reporting positive news on CH to the media
•   Establish relationships with corporate organizations for goodwill support

Qualities

•   Strong commitment to child rights
•   Excellent written and verbal communication skills, English and Fante or Twi
•   Experience of writing press releases, articles and engaging the media
•   Excellent time management and organisational skills
•   Able to work independently and take initiative
•   Good understanding of the key contemporary issues and the development needs of undeserved communities in Ghana, particularly with regard to education, child labour/trafficking, and other related child right issues
•   Basic editing skills

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Degree in Journalism or at least 3 years in Journalism or PR department of a reputable organisation
•   Degree in Communication Studies or Media Relations or at least 3 years experience in Public Relations.
