JOB POSTING: CONDITION MONITORING TECHNICIAN-NDT

ROLE PURPOSE
• The Condition Monitoring Technician-NDT reports to the Condition Monitoring Supervisor and is responsible for performing all non-destructive safety tests of structures, vehicles, or vessels using x-ray, ultrasound, fibre optic or related equipment across the site and equipment above and underground and reporting. The role holder also escalates and recommends to the reliability engineer on subjects in developing, implementing and reviewing equipment maintenance strategies to include NDT inspection in order to improve equipment safety, reliability and asset integrity of the mine plant and equipment to world-class standards.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Assess risks for all tasks and ensure they are controlled before and during task execution.
• Report all incidents and ensure they have been investigated and corrective actions completed on time.
• Act on all corrective actions assigned to you or under your jurisdiction and ensure timely completion.
• Adhere to site’s Environmental Management Plan
• Comply with AGAG Environmental Management, compliance and other legal requirements.
• Take action to prevent environmental pollution
• Comply and follow the operating procedures and environmental rules for the performance of the assigned job.
• Correct, or report to their Supervisor, any observed environmental deviations, practices and conditions as well make suggestions to improve any aspect of environmental management.
• Follow the established procedures if incident occur by reporting to the Supervisor.
• Assist Condition Monitoring Supervisor in gathering information for reports.
• Conduct audits of Process Plant Equipment
• Conduct reviews of the NDT function to identify actions for continuous improvement
• Assist the Condition Monitoring Supervisor to develop NDT plans and checks for Plant equipment;
• Execute NDT checks on a routine scheduled basis. This to include x-ray, ultrasound, fibre optic, dye penetrant, crack detection or related inspections and report to the Condition Monitoring Supervisor;
• Analyze and trend predictive maintenance data (vibration, IR, etc) to determine plant condition and report this condition for action;
• Monitor general physical condition of plant assets through NDT methods and report
• Monitor preventive and corrective actions as necessary;
• Generate work requests in SAP as required for maintenance planning and scheduling
• Gather information on vibration & other data collected in order to diagnose/ troubleshoot rotating/vibrating machinery problems.
• Actively participate in Reliability improvement programmes and Root Cause Failure Analysis process of Rotating equipment as per requirements.
• Identify, communicate, and implement potential cost reduction initiatives
• Propose cost savings projects.
• Execute work in a timely manner.
• Monitor equipment state on asset health system and take proactive measures to address symptoms of potential failure.
• Stop equipment from working if there exists a high risk or unsafe to be used
Qualification Required & Experience
• Associate degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Material Engineering or related field with two (2) years of relevant experience in condition monitoring) OR
• Technician Part II Certificate or equivalent with five (5) years of relevant experience in condition monitoring.
• Certification in NDT methods (e.g., Level I, II, or III in Ultrasonic Testing, Radiographic Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing) from recognized bodies such as ASNT (American Society for Non-destructive Testing) or BINDT (British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing).
• Knowledge and on the field practical training in NDT Technologies
Experience
• Technician II Certificate or equivalent (with 5 years of relevant experience in condition monitoring).
• Experience in similar NDT roles, with hands-on experience in the Extractive or heavy industry
Technical Competencies
• Competent technician capable of performing NDT inspections to ensure the integrity and safety of equipment and structures without causing damage.
