Job Vacancy For Construction Managers (5 Positions)



One of Ghana's leading real estate companies that develops and builds middle income residential sub divisions/estates is currently developing a 1,600  unit (Single and Multi family) housing project and is looking for the following to help manage its construction process.

Job Description

The duties of each of the Construction Manager will be to assist the Project Directors and other professionals in carrying out the day-to-day Supervision of the works.

Among his/her specific duties shall be:

•  Checking the Contractor’s setting out and supervising the construction and quality control measures in respect of works
•  Reviewing and recommending for approval the Contractor’s works schedule or revisions thereto and any such plans or programmes which the Contractor is obliged to furnish for the Project Director’s approval
•  Organising the supervision of the works with proper allocation and responsibilities to the individual inspectors and supervising their work/activities to ensure effective execution and co-ordination
•  Inspecting the health, safety, environmental management and security aspects of the construction of both permanent and temporarily works to ensure that every reasonable measure has been taken to protect life, environment and property
•  Preparing and maintaining inspection reports and records to adequately document the progress and performance of the works
•  Examining and making recommendations to the Project Director, any request for extension of time, extra compensations, work or expenses or other similar matters
•  Keep daily records of materials, labour and equipment associated with the Works and their movements
•  Report to Project Director and other professionals any defects in the quality of Contractor's work and passing back to the Contractor any instructions for their rectification
•  Supervise and ensure that quality control measures for the Works are compiled with
•  Report to the Project Director any accident or unusual happenings at the site and
•  Performing all other tasks not specifically mentioned above, but which are necessary and essential to successfully supervise and control all construction activities in accordance with the terms of the construction contract.

Qualification Required & Experience

•  A minimum of BSc/HND in Building Technology, Civil Engineering and/or Architecture from a recognized institution with at least a minimum of ten (10) years of post-qualification working experience in the Construction Industry
•  Previous working experience in Real Estate Development will be an advantage
•  Membership of the professional institution will be an added advantage

Special Knowledge & Qualities

•  Must have a basic knowledge of Ghana Housing Industry, land economics and financial aspects of housing and estate development.
•  A working knowledge of computer programmes eg MS Excel and AutoCAD is desirable.
