Job Description

The Coordinator of International Programmes shall manage the development and administration of International Programmes.

Reporting Relationship:
The Coordinator of International Programmes shall report directly to the Deputy Rector.

Duties:

•   Coordinate  the  affairs  of  the  international  programmes  office  including programme planning, development, and oversight of budgets
•   Supervise international programmes staff
•   Identify and prepare grant-funded proposals for international initiatives, including programmes for international clients and curriculum development activities
•   Coordinate and facilitate  coordination  agreement  with  foreign colleges and universities
•   Facilitate faculty and students 'study abroad' programmes
•   Evaluate current international education programme curriculum, and facilitate the development and integration of courses into general curriculum
•   Establish and maintain professional networks with related local, national and international organisations and agencies
•   Facilitate internal and external marketing of programmes
•   Collaborate   with   representatives   from   foreign   colleges,  universities and organisations for special projects or programmes as required
•   Perform any other incidental and related duties as directed by Management

Terms of Appointment:
The successful candidate shall hold office for a term of three (3) academic years in the first instance and may be reappointed for further terms of three (3) academic years each, subject to satisfactory performance.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A minimum of master's degree.
•   Prior experience in a higher educational setting
•   Effectively  ustng  interpersonal  and  communication  skills, including  tact and diplomacy and working with individuals from different cultures
•   Experience in coordinating or directing international programmes
•   Experience with living and working internationally and/or knowledge in higher educational systems

Competencies:  

•   Must be able to relate well with diverse students, faculty and staff especially in a team setting
•   Must  have a  thorough  understanding  of GIMPA  policies  and  procedures  on research and international activities; and be familiar with GIMPA's international connections
•   Must be able to provide assistance wth the development of project proposals and budgets, particularly with major sponsoring agencies such as the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF)
•   Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
•   Must have strong computer application skills, including experience with financial systems of tertiary  institutions,  database  management  in  Windows,   Microsoft Word, Excel and experience in accessing search engines on the World Wide Web
•   Must possess organizational skills in order to work in a complex and changing work under pressure as part of a team in response to multiple demands and deadlines throughout the year.
