LA Community Bank LTD seeks to employ a suitably qualified person for the position of: Deputy Chief Executive Officer

Job Summary

• Drive performance of key functional areas to deliver the core mandate of the bank to customers and to support the CEO in managing the affairs of the Bank

Duties and Responsibilities

• Work Closely with the CEO to execute the bank's strategic and operational plans
• Develop micro market sales plans to achieve responsive dales budgets/targets for branches.
• Manage the net profitability of the branches by ensuring the effective management of revenue and expenditure with emphasis on the containment of controllable cost.
• Provide inputs for developing appropriate products and services to meet customer needs and expectation via suitable channels
• Develop and maintain wide network of relationships with other business units within the bank and other institution or agencies to ensure enhanced customer service, optimal business development and risk management
• Monitor the operational and financial results of the bank closely against plans and budgets of the branches
• Promote the implementation of sound operational and financial control systems to enable financial performance to be effectively monitored in line with board's directives and expectations
• Build and maintain an effective team of direct reports who promote high performance culture
• Promote operational excellence in the delivery of services ensuring the delivery of appropriate and high quality products which consistently meet customers needs and that of other stakeholders
• Liaise with the Bank of Ghana on operational issues that arise in the course of delivering of the bank's mandate, seeking advice and making recommendations on government policy as and when required
• Assist the CEO in the preparation and presentation of technical papers to the Board, BOG, Apex Bank and other stakeholders
• Act in the absence of the CEO, discharging all responsibilities that comes with office.

Qualification Required & Experience

• First Degree in Banking & Finance, Accounting, Commerce or any related discipline from a recognized university
• Second degree in Banking and Finance or any related discipline
• Membership of a recognized professional body is preferred

Experience

• 15 years experience in the financial services industry with at least 8 years in a senior management role
• At least 5 years experience leading a cross functional team

Knowledge and Skills

• Excellent knowledge of the banking industry, trends and developments including up-to-date knowledge of the regulatory frameworks both locally and at the international level, e.g IFRS, BASEL 2, etc
• Thorough knowledge of local banking legislation
• Working knowledge of the Labour Act 2003, Act 651
• Knowledge of banking platforms and systems (preferably bankmill)
• Strategic leadership
• Networking, influencing and stakeholder management
• Communications at all levels both internally and externally
• Problem solving, analytical thinking and decision making
• Strong analytical mind
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Proficient in the use of MS Office suite
