The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital invites applications from suitably qualified serving officers of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and sister agencies of the Ministry of Health for appointment as Directors to fill the under-listed vacancy: Deputy Director for Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation

Summary of Job/functions

• Provide support and advice to the Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services in the efficient management of Nursing and Midwifery services in the Hospital.
• Assist in the development/ implementation of comprehensive operational policies, strategic plans, systems, programmes and budgets to cover all activities of the Hospital in collaboration with key stakeholders Cater for the design and application of monitoring and evaluation systems and tools for purpose of assessing the operational
effectiveness of programmes of the Hospital Assisting Central Management in the preparation of annual report for the Hospital.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of policies and guidelines to govern the Hospital.
• Ensure that current and prospective donors to the hospital have access to information about the policies of the Hospital and its priority needs.
• Lead in the formulation of strategic plans, and other related documents.
• Carry out trends assessment on progress in implementing key policies and programmes
• Translate policies into operational and strategic plans
• Assist to develop plans and budgets for nursing care in the Hospital.
• Assist to ensure complete, accurate and up to date records are maintained in accordance with the guidelines for records keeping and management.
• Assist the Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services to devise improved job methods for increasing efficiency in the Nursing Directorate of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
• Assist the Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services to act as a professional advocate in respect to all nursing and operational issues that arise within the Hospital.
• Assist to respond to requests for advice/involvement with problem solving situations that arise on a day-to-day basis, when the situation requires experienced nursing input.
• Perform any other duty that will be delegated by the director of Nursing and Midwifery Services.

Job Qualifications and Experience

• Registered General Nurse or Midwife with a relevant Master's Degree in Nursing/Midwifery or equivalent at the level of Chief Nursing Officer (CNO); OR
• Registered General Nurse or Midwife with a relevant Master's degree qualification in Nursing/Midwifery or equivalent, plus a minimum of five (5) years' working experience at the level of Deputy Chief Nursing Officer (DCNO); OR Registered General Nurse or Midwife with a relevant post graduate qualification in Nursing/Midwifery or equivalent plus a minimum of twelve (12) years' working experience at the level of Principal Nursing Officer (PNO); OR
Registered General Nurse (RGN) or Midwife with Fellowship in Nursing/Midwifery or equivalent, with a minimum of three (3) years working experience at the level of Senior Nurse Specialist. OR Registered General Nurse (RGN) or Midwife with a minimum of Thirteen (13) years working experience post Nursing/Midwifery Officer grade with Membership in Nursing/Midwifery (Nurse Specialist) or equivalent or Membership in Nursing/Midwifery or
equivalent with a minimum of Eight (8) years' working experience at the level of Nurse Specialist.
• At least a certificate in Hospital Management, Planning and Management or Public Administration or its equivalent.
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
• Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
• Indebt experience in the use of research methodologies and tools to conduct clinical assessments and analyze trends relative to health care practices.
• Advanced clinical experience in Specialist areas.
• Supervisory/ team leader experience.
• Wide range of experience in all aspects of Hospital services.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Programme of Work and Budget Management.
• Good knowledge of legal framework underpinning the MOH and its agencies.
• In-depth knowledge of Hospital procedures and KPI/KQIs on patient care
• Knowledge and experience of health services quality assurance.
• Good knowledge of legal regulations and best practices in healthcare Supply chain management
• Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and report writing.
• Planning, organization and Supervisory skills.
• Ability to work, lead, coach, mentor, counsel and manage a multi-disciplinary team.
