Job Vacancy For Deputy Director General At West African Insurance Institute (WAII)



The West African Insurance Institute (WAII), Banjul, The Gambia, is an Insurance training centre with full diplomatic status, juridical personality and financial authority, which provides professional insurance education and allied courses to the personnel of insurance, financial industries and the public sector.

The Institute, owned and established by the Govrnment of the five Anglophone West African countries, with the support of the UNCTAD, serves as a centre for the collection of technical and other insurance data, provides technical assistance to member countries and organizes research programmes and projects in all aspects of insurance, reinsurance and allied subjects.

Description Of Job

The Institute requires for employment qualified and experienced individuals for the above position.

Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director General/Head of Mission, the Deputy Director will be responsible for the following:

•  As Head of Academic matters of WAII, the Deputy Director shall be responsible for matters relating to the Faculty and students
•  Designing and Reviewing the Institute's curriculum in line with the objectives of WAII;
•  Teaching and Conducting tutorials and Course Advisory Services;
a) Designing, Marketing and Running Short Courses in member countries in association with local institutes;
b) Conducting Research and offering Consultancy Services to the Insurance Industry;
•  As Secretary, to liaise with the Academic Board and International Institutions as well as Professional Bodies;
•  To liaise with International Agencies for the enhancement of Technical and Professional Education; and
•  Any other duties that the Director General may assign from time to time

Education:

•  A degree in social sciences or any related field
•  Possession of a higher degree will be an added advantage
•  Must possess professional qualification of at least ACII

Work Experience:

•  Must possess a minimum of five (5) years experience at a
•  Management Position
•  Possession of at least five (5) years teaching experience in an Insurance Training (or similar) institution will be a major advantage
•  Must be computer literate
