Job Vacancy For Deputy Head of Legal and Compliance
Role Summary
• Reporting to the Head of Legal and Compliance, the Deputy Head of Legal and Compliance would be responsible for providing expert legal guidance, overseeing compliance with statutory and regulatory frameworks, managing legal risks, and contributing to the strategic legal direction of the organisation
Job Responsibilities
Prioritised responsibilities of the Legal and Compliance Officer include the following:
• Assist the Head of Legal and Compliance in managing the legal and compliance department, including strategic planning and implementation
• Provide expert legal issues, including investment, corporate, commercial, property, financial, employment and regulatory law
• Lead the review, drafting and negotiation of complex legal agreements including investment contracts, partnership agreements, financing agreements and procurement contracts
• Represent the organization in high-level negotiations, litigation, arbitration and regulatory proceedings
• Supervise legal due diligence processes and legal audits in support of the organization's investment and operational activities
Qualification Required & Experience
• Minimum of 7 years of post-qualification legal experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role
• Bachelor's of laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university and qualification to practice law in Ghana
• Postgraduate qualification in law, corporate governance, or related fields (an advantage)
• Must be a lawyer and member of the Ghana Bar Association
• Experience in legal advisory roles within investment, finance or extractive sectors in highly desirable
• Deep understanding of Ghanaian legal and regulatory frameworks, especially in finance, mining and investment
