The Tamale Teacher Hospital is an agency of the Ministry of Health responsible for tertiary health care delivery, teaching and research.

Job Description

Tamale Teaching Hospital is an agency of the Ministry of Health; mandated to provide tertiary health care services, serves as a teaching facility for the School of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University for Development Studies and to undertake relevant research for health development. The Board of the Hospital is seeking qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position.

Job Purpose:

•   To provide leadership and have overall responsibility for the management of nursing and midwifery standards through teaching, monitoring, research, policy development and implementation within the hospital.

Functions:

•   Provide technical advice on nursing and midwifery services to the Chief Executive
•   Submit periodic and timely reports on nursing and midwifery activities within the hospital to the Chief Executive
•   Collaborate with Physicians, Consultants, other agencies and institutions to improve the quality of nursing services and to resolve problems
•   Develop, maintain and implement nursing and midwifery policies and procedures that conform to current standards of nursing and midwifery practice while ensuring compliance with professional rules and regulations
•   Manage and motivate nursing staff
•   Undertake any other responsibility assigned by the Chief Executive

Duration of Contract:
All the positions are for FOUR (4) years contract period subject to renewal upon satisfactory work output and conduct.

Qualification Required & Experience

The Person must be a Registered Professional Nurse or Midwife with the following:

•   A relevant Degree in Nursing or, Midwifery or equivalent (i.e. Post Basic) with at least twenty (20) years' working experience, five of which shall be at senior management level.
•   A Master's Degree in health related, discipline will be an added advantage
•   Person should be at the grade of Deputy Director of Nursing Services at the time of application
•   Evidence of leadership and' continuing professional development and training in Health management
•   Broad knowledge and understanding of MoH policies and operating procedures on nursing and midwife
