Job Vacancy For Director of Ghana Space Science & Technology Institute At Ghana Atomic Energy Commission



The Position:
The Director is the Officer appointed by the Commission and charged with responsibility for directing the administrative, scientific, technical and commercial functions of the Ghana Space Science and Technology Institute (GSSTI).

Duties/Key Responsibilities:

•   The Director is to work closely with the Director-General to implement policies of the Institute.
•   Manage, coordinate and steer all Space Science programmes, projects and activities throughout the nation.
•   Help develop expertise in the field of Space ad Science and Technology.
•   Initiate new research proposals in accordance with the United Nations Office of Outer Space Agency (UNOOSA) approved programmes for Ghana and co-ordinate research, scientific, technical and commercial activities in the Institute.
•   Ehance the application of space science in the field of education and training for socio-economic development of the country.
•   Collaborate in the ratification of conventions and treaties on peaceful users of outer space.
•   Set the priority goals of research activities within the Institute in line with the Commission's policy.
•   Drive the research and technical operations of the Institute including commercialization of research output.
•   Develop and implement the appropriate strategies and systems for effective co-ordination, monitoring and evaluation of research work within the Institute.
•   Ensure the availability of funds for research purposes in the Institute and
•   Any other job that may be assigned by the Director-General

Tenure: The position is for five (5) years only but may be renewed for a second term

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Must be of Minimum rank of Principal Scientific Officer/Principal Research Officer/Associate Professor.
•   Must possess a higher degree (PhD, DSc and DPhil) in Space Science and Technology, Aerospace Science, Communication, Earth Sciences or related fields.
