The Council of the University of Cape Coast invites applications from qualified and competent persons for the position of Vice-Chancellor of the University which became vacant from 1st August, 2026.
Job Summary
•The Director of Public Affairs is the Head of the Directorate and reports to the Vice-Chancellor through the Registrar for building and maintaining the university's corporate image and relationships with key publics, managing university events and communicating information to and from the University's stakeholders
•He/She plans and implements the strategic and operational aspects of the public relations and corporate affairs of the University
Duties / Responsibilities
•Managing Press/Media Relations
•Conducting perception studies
•Controlling and regulating university notices, posters, banners etc
•Documenting University history, culture and symbols
•Undertaking publication of University documents
•Providing, media and photo coverage for University functions
•Monitoring University website to ensure that it is up to date with accurate information
•Handling convocation matters
•Managing the University's strategic corporate communication
•Providing effective collaboration, syndication and affiliation with local and international media partners
•Coordinating the transmission of public lectures and other University functions on various media platforms
•Coordinating and supervising the activities of University Radio, TV and Internet Broadcasting facilities and using campus broadcasting services centre (CBS) as a laboratory to train students
•Servicing relevant committees/boards and
•Any other related duty that may be assigned by management
Qualification Required & Experience
•A post-graduate degree in Communication/Public Relations/Media or a relevant area
•Be a member of a recognised relevant professional body
•A minimum of 10 years of post-qualification working experience as a senior member and possess considerable strategic, interpersonal and collegial skills and be able to function within the higher education sector and
•Served as Deputy Registrar in a university
Term of Office
The position, which is full-time, is for a 4 years term, renewable for another term 4 years only, if that is not beyond statutory retiring age
