Job Vacancy For Early Grade Literacy Specialist At Chemonics International



Chemonics International Inc, a leading international consulting firm based in Washington, D.C., is seeking long-term employees and short-term consultants for an anticipated early grade literacy and numeracy program in Ghana. The project will focus on improving reading and numeracy instruction, teacher training, education management, and material development in English and mother tongue languages

We are recruiting a senior-level early grade literacy specialist for an anticipated four-year program in Ghana. The early grade literacy specialist will provide technical assistance for the development of improved literacy instruction, materials development, and teacher training efforts.

Qualification Required & Experience

Qualifications for the position:

•  Master’s degree in education, preferably early grade reading, bilingual education, or other relevant area or equivalent combination of education and work experience in education-related field;
•  Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience working on mother-tongue language programming;
•  Knowledge of the Ghana education system, particularly the NALAP program and literacy framework;
•  Understanding of Ghanaian and English instruction strategies;
•  Experience on USAID or other donor-funded programs preferred and experience working with non-governmental organizations ad national and local governments required;
•  Outstanding leadership, management, and interpersonal skills;
•  Fluency in English required.
