The U.S. Embassy in Accra, Ghana is seeking an individual for the position of ELECTRICIAN in the Facilities Maintenance Section of the Embassy.

POSITION NO: A52619

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION

•   Incumbent performs full journeyman level work in the electrical field. Installs new appliances and rewires as necessary, fixes all electrical outlets and products, including lamps, stoves, refrigerators and small appliances.

•   Rewires homes and offices and installs lighting, both inside and outside of buildings, and performs electrical chores in keeping with this speciality.

•   Installs and repairs electrical pumps as necessary and lays ground
cables for all official buildings and residences; drives vehicle to the job site and performs other duties related to the electrical trade.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Completion of Secondary School and 3 years technical vocational training from a recognized institution is required.
•   Three to five years of prior experience in a large electrical contracting company.
•   Level III (good working knowledge) in English is required. Job holder will be able to read and understand, for example, regulations, instructions and related material concerning the field of work. Job holder will be able to communicate effectively with staff and members of the public in the language. Language proficiency will be tested.
•   Must have knowledge of the tools of the electrical trade, its use and correlation to the job at hand.
•   Must be able to read blueprints and other specifications for all electrical appliances and safety installations of wiring in homes and offices. Must have and provide a copy of a valid driver’s license Class B. Driving experience will be tested.

Salary: GH¢14,628 p.a. (Starting salary)
