Position Summary Position/ Job Goal:

The Elementary School PYP Technology Teacher is responsible for creating a classroom environment that develops in each student an awareness of the role of technology education within the Primary Years Program. The primary focus of the Technology Teacher is to enrich
and support teaching and learning while strengthening the technology skills of students.

Specific Responsibilities:

•   Responsible for planning and teaching PYP technology integration lessons collaboratively with
classroom and single subject teachers.
•   Responsible for developing the technology curriculum and adapting the curriculum to the needs of
each student
•   Responsible for creating a classroom environment that is conducive to student learning and fosters
individual choice, creativity and innovation.
•   Responsible for guiding students in the proper use, care and safe handling of information
technology equipment.
•   Responsible for evaluating each student’s growth in knowledge and skills in the course being taught
and prepare report cards
•   Responsible for providing safe storage and proper use of materials, equipment and tools.
•   Responsible for establishing and maintaining standards of student behaviour for a productive
learning environment during class sessions
•   Responsible for communicating with parents and school Counsellors on student progress.
•   Responsible for recommending new technology and related resources suitable for the Elementary
School
•   Responsible for integrating the use of hardware, software and Internet resources in support of
student learning
•   Responsible for working collaboratively with teachers to support their use of technology in delivery
of curricula through a variety of instructional methods
•   Responsible for training staff on the use of new technology resources
Qualification:
•   Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or a related area of
study
•   Qualified Teacher status

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Minimum of three years verifiable post qualification teaching experience
•   Experience of working in an international school environment
•   Experience of integrating technology into instruction/curriculum
•   Experience with effective technology teaching strategies in teaching software and hardware skills.
•   Experience using smart board, and school information systems
•   Experience with effective technology teaching strategies in teaching software and hardware skills
•   Demonstrated teaching skills and effective written and oral communication skills.
•   Extensive knowledge of teaching techniques and curriculum development
•   Knowledge of key learning theories and methods of instruction, and their relation to technology
integration.
•   Ability to work well with others, be skilled in team management..
•   Key knowledge of methods for integrating technology into the curriculum Specific Training/Skills:
•   Current on new instructional technologies and their use in the classroom and a willingness to
continue to learn additional instructional technologies.
•   Ability to coach, mentor, and teach adults.
•   Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others
