Job Role

•Accountable for developing and implementing processes and procedures to integrate new nodes, links and services in the Core network of MTN Ghana
•Responsible for the implementation of all core systems, change requests, testing and reviewing performance before and after every change completion.
•Responsible for ensuring all Core systems (AMF/MME, SMF/UPF, UPCF, vMSE/AAA, UDM/HSS/HLR, SVC/MSC, GMSC, STP/DRA, etc.) health checks are done daily and weekly reports shared accordingly
•Responsible for the review of all Core systems’ statistical performance daily with reports shared accordingly
•Responsible for supporting local teams & providing guidance on troubleshooting of general & specific network faults
•Management and coordination of the activities and performance for all 3rd party vendors delivering specific core services for MTN Ghana such as GTP, SS7 and SMS firewall
•Responsible for building the necessary communication requirements among different departments: IN, Billing, NSS, Planning & IS teams.
•Responsible for handling all UAT/PAT testing with project implementors and/or other departments during project acceptance
•Ensure all UAT/PAT issues are resolved and documented
•Responsible for the resolution of all vulnerabilities on the Core systems
•Provide other departments with technical core systems information upon request.
•Responsible for the scheduling of Disaster Recovery Plan activities and documentation thereof in line with MTN Ghana’s business continuity plan.
•Responsible for the coordination of vendor service requests per the agreed SLAs
•Audit of core systems configurations to ensure homogeneity in pooled systems.
•Promote the use of intelligent tools for Core network service analytics to enhance operational excellence
•Support the Network Group departments and other divisions in engaging with the National Communication Authority in relation to mobile communication services and regulations
•Support the management and maintenance of Core systems hardware/servers deployed in the switch centers
•Support internal and external audit engagements pertaining to core network systems
•Ensure all core systems backups are up to date in compliance with BCP guidelines
•Support the management of the network tools such the customer experiences management platform
•Communicate technical findings, risks, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
•Any other roles as assigned by the line manager in relation to the job role

Qualification Required & Experience

•Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Telecom Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering or related field
•A professional certification in a related field is an added advantage

Experience

•Minimum of 3 years’ hands on experience with Core systems (Data and Voice Systems) in a Telecoms environment
•Systems deployment, performance and capacity handling
•Customer management

Knowledge

•Good knowledge in network system technologies: GSM, WCDMA, LTE (2G, 3G, 4G) and IMS technologies.
•Network Operations & Network quality management
•Good knowledge in Core networks architecture, topology, traffic routing, protocols and Interfaces.
•Adequate knowledge of Vendor management in a managed service
•Data analytics for statistical review of systems and services
•Ability to analyze and report for systems reconciliation such as traffic analysis and rerouting planning based on actual network traffic and vendor's reports including Voice and Signalling
•Good record keeping of technical details on core systems
•Competence in network virtualization and cloud systems management
