Job Summary:
Maintain MTN’s network at the highest standards within the Northern, BABE regions through effective coordination and supervision of all internal and external regional technical field resources and to ensure customer satisfaction for all the network services provided by MTN.

Job Role
• Day-to-day supervision and coordination of all regional technical operations and maintenance activities in the region with the Managed Service Provider to ensure all network SLAs/ KPIs, customer KPIs/SLAs, due dates and specifications are strictly adhered to.
• Act as MTN operational SPOC for all GPON field related challenges
• Liaising with the central change management team to ensure that all network changes within the region are effectively managed.
• Serve as the MTN resource to be part of all network acceptance tests of all nodes and services.
• Assist Sales team in identifying and closing opportunities from a technical perspective.
• Provide input for OPEX and CAPEX budget for the region.
• Implement procedures, processes and systems to track and monitor network service quality and customer-service standards within the region.
• Meet regularly and on an ad hoc basis with Managed Service Provider to discuss and track performance or technical and customer issues
• Ensure all network spares inventory are in place and appropriately stocked per managed service contract SLA
• Perform spot checks to ensure compliance by Managed service provider to all HSSE ideals within the region
• Produce reports to evaluate/benchmark regional performance in accordance with Network Regional Coordination guidelines.
• Ensure network radio KPIs are achieved and tracked daily
• Ratify KPI exclusions claimed by Vendors with the central team
• Develop and execute a preventive maintenance program for all parts of the network within the region.
• Monitor and track performance of agency/managed service resource on the field
• Drive field fault rate reduction to ensure sustainability of the GPON field infrastructure
• Mitigate network outages, track and ensure prompt resolution of outages to guarantee GPON network high availability.
• Conduct preventive maintenance activities to ensure the GPON infrastructure value is maintained
• Vet and approve network field deployment changes and document such on the division’s file server.
• Coordinate with cross domain functions (field, planning, CPG, IT, Commercial, 3rd Party vendors, etc) to ensure GPON ODN is delivered per plan and acceptable standard.
• Lead the GPON incident handlers and schedulers in FBB complaint handling, fault assignment, follow ups and customer updates to ensure graceful closure of all incidents.
• Ensure zero end customer repeat failures
• Escalate challenges to the appropriate internal/external stakeholders to speed up problem resolution if need be
• Any other roles as assigned by the line manager in relation to the job role
Qualification Required & Experience
Education
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Telecom Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering or related field
• Experience Minimum of 3 years’ hands on experience 3 years’ field proven work experience in the GSM Telecommunications industry with experience in radio, GPON, transmission and power networks
• At least 1 year experience in IP Technology
Knowledge
• Adequate Knowledge in Telecommunication fundamentals
• Adequate knowledge in network system technologies like GPON, fiber transmission, microwave, IP networks, etc
• Adequate knowledge of optical principles and its operations
• Adequate knowledge in networking and IP device setup
• Sound GPON field network troubleshooting skills
• Adequate knowledge of environmental, health, and safety policies and practices
• Ability to manage customer expectations
• Ability to produce accurate and detailed work plan
• Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical people
• Ability to use GIS tools and interpret GIS outputs and drawings
