Role Description

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Secondary English Teacher with expertise in the Cambridge Curriculum. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality English language instruction to secondary students, fostering a love for literature, language, and critical thinking skills. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in the Cambridge Curriculum, possess excellent communication skills, and be dedicated to creating an engaging and supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of the Secondary English Teacher include:

• Design and implement engaging and effective lessons based on the Cambridge Curriculum for Secondary English.
• Integrate a variety of teaching methods and resources to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
• Develop and administer assessments to evaluate students understanding and progress and provide constructive feedback to students.
• Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to effective learning and manage behavior issues promptly and professionally.
• Stay updated on the latest developments in English language teaching and the Cambridge Curriculum and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and methodologies.
• Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to support a cohesive learning community.
• Actively participate in and contribute to extracurricular activities, such as literary clubs, debates, or writing competitions.
• Contributing to the development of the English department in line with the school mission and vision.

Qualification Required & Experience

• Bachelors degree in Education, English Language Teaching, Linguistics, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
• Teaching certification or qualification from a recognized institution.
• Proven experience in teaching secondary English, with a focus on the Cambridge Curriculum. (At least 2 years of experience in teaching Cambridge Lower Secondary English and/or IGCSE First Language English syllabus.
• Excellent command of the English language, both spoken and written, as well as good communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with blended and technology-enhanced learning is a plus
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as independently
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and improving teaching practice
