Job Vacancy For Environment, Health and Safety Officer



Our client is the leading pharmaceutical company in Ghana. The company now seeks a hands-on Environment, Health and Safety Officer to establish and maintain a health and safety culture and an environmental management program in the factory according to GMP standards and ensure proper documentation.

Key Accountabilities

• Develop, implement and maintain safety and environmental policies, plans, procedure/programs and manuals.
• Carry out incident and accident investigation, analysis and reporting.
• Carry out job hazard analysis and risk assessment for the various sections and liaise with QAM to determine actions to address them.
• Coordinate health monitoring of staff and ensure activity is carried out as per the approved Standard
Operating Procedure for Health Surveillance.
• Conduct and coordinate safety and health training programs.
• Ensure yearly renewal of fire certificate, factory inspectorate certificate and EPA permit.
• Ensure environmental monitoring programs/procedures are developed as well as trending of raw material
consumption/production output, water/electricity consumption, etc. are carried out and submit quarterly returns to EPA.
• Submit annual report on environmental monitoring carried out to EPA and develop an Environmental Management Plan for the factory.
• Liaise with QAM to ensure actions are taken to address any environmental parameter which is out of specification.
• Ensure all social activities undertaken by the factory, e.g. attachment by students, donations of materials for research purposes or for charity are appropriately documented.
• Carry out sampling and evaluation on the quality of water (both processed and unprocessed) used for manufacturing as indicated in the relevant SOPs and report on results.
• Liaise with external laboratory to carry out microbial exposed plate monitoring and report on results.
• To supervise the sanitation officer to ensure the factory is always in a state of total cleanliness.
• To coordinate the disposal of rejected materials and ensure all appropriate records of disposal are kept.
• Any other duties assigned: Re-Registration of drug products, Online Inspection during packaging, Conducting Internal Audit, Self-Inspection, Line Clearance, Raw Material Release and Verification.

Qualification Required & Experience

• Degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or Chemistry, Pharmacy, B. Tech, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or related course will be an advantage.
• Must have minimum of five (5) years of work experience in a similar role.
