Job Vacancy For Executive Director, Forest Services Division (FSD)
The Role
• The position reports to the Chief Executive and the incumbent is to provide vision, leadership and overall direction to the management of the FSD to achieve its strategic and business objectives
Key Responsibilities
• Provide robust leadership and strategic direction for the management of the FSD
• Provide leadership in the development of effective strategies to protect the nation's forest reserves
• Provide leadership in the development, coordination and implementation of Business plans to achieve approved targets on time in key results areas of finance, human resource and operations
• Provide leadership in the development and implementation of systems and procedures for monitoring the conditions and extent of the country's forest and timber resources and report periodically
• Provide leadership in the coordination of inputs for the review of the Forestry policy and legislation as and when required
• Provide leadership in promoting an enabling environment to attract investors in the development of forest plantations and climate mitigation projects
• Coordinate the development and implementation of systems and procedures to regulate the harvesting, utilization of forest and timber resources
• Collaborate with key stakeholders in the monitoring of forest resources along the chain of custody to control and minimize illegal logging and other forest offences.
• Provide leadership in the implementation of collaborative forestry management strategies for effective management of the forestry resource
• Appraise the performance of direct reports and monitor the performance of staff in the division
• Provide leadership and monitor emerging forestry issues i.e, Climate change, forest law enforcement governance and trade, bamboo and rattan resource development, as well as new business processes to ensure that they are effectively mainstreamed in forest operations
• Oversee the implementation of various projects and programmes from time to time
• Facilitate the capacity development initiatives within the division. Or oversee and enhance initiatives aimed at capacity development
• Any other duties that may be assigned by the Chief Executive from time to time
Qualification Required & Experience
• A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Natural Resource Management or other relevant fields such as Ecology and environmental sciences and a Master's Degree in Business/Public Administration or Social Sciences from a recognized institution
• A minimum of 15 years post bachelor's degree relevant working experience in a reputable organization, 5 years of which must be in a Senior Management position

• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence stakeholders, build consensus and take difficult decisions
• A team player capable of building a strong and winning management team
• Commitment to staying current on industry trends, regulations and emerging risks, particularly in the areas of environmental sustainability and governance.
