Job Vacancy For Executive Director, Timber Industry Development Division (TIDD)



The Role

• The position reports to the Chief Executive and the incumbent is to provide vision, leadership and overall direction to the management of the TIDD to achieve its strategic and business objectives

Key Responsibilities

• Provide robust leadership and strategic direction for the management of the Timber industry development division
• Provide leadership in the development, coordination and implementation of the Business Plans of TIDD to achieve approved targets on time in its key result areas of finance, human resource and forest operations
• Provide leadership in the development and implementation of the annual budgets of the TIDD.
• Provide leadership in operations such as use of appropriate technology in the industry, registration and inspection of downstream processing and marketing with emphasis on lesser known (used) wood species, plantation timber and utilization of residues, certification, log/products tracking systems
• Provide leadership through stakeholder engagement by providing advice to Government, industry Trade Associations, Civil Society Organisations, Forest Sector Institutions
• Provide strategic market intelligence, information dissemination through publications on the use of appropriate technology, operations systems and procedures, technical assistance and donor inputs under voluntary partnership agreement (VPA) and legality assurance systems etc
• Provide operational leadership in the formulation and promotion of wood products standards and ensure flows of timber and timber products under the internal forest management system
• Provide leadership and monitor emerging issues i.e, Timber Validation as well as new business processes to ensure that they are effectively mainstreamed in forest operations
• Any other duties that may be assigned by the Chief Executive from time to time

Qualification Required & Experience

• A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Natural Resource Management or other relevant fields such as Ecology and Environmental Sciences and a Master's Degree in Business/Public Administration or Social Sciences from a recognized institution
• A minimum of 15 years post bachelor's degree relevant working experience in a reputable organization, 5 years of which must be in a Senior Management position

• A team player capable of building a strong and wining management teams
• Commitment to staying current on industry trends, regulations and emerging risks, particularly in the areas of environmental sustainability and governance
