Summary:
The Corporate Communications Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping and safeguarding Telecel Ghana’s brand reputation by developing and executing strategic communication initiatives that align with business objectives. This position is responsible for managing corporate brand risks and opportunities, ensuring consistent external messaging, and enhancing Telecel’s image as a trusted telecom leader in Ghana. The role involves leading media relations, reputation management, and stakeholder engagement strategies, while serving as the primary point of contact for external communications. The incumbent will work closely with senior leadership, the Foundation, and external agencies to drive visibility, thought leadership, and positive public perception across all platforms and stakeholder groups.
Responsibilities:
•Act as a strategic communications partner to senior management and business functions.
•Develop and implement integrated communication plans aligned with Telecel’s strategic goals.
•Manage external agencies, budgets, and media partnerships to ensure effective brand storytelling.
•Prepare speeches, Q&A sessions, fact sheets, and interview guides for the CEO and SMT members.
•Monitor media coverage and lead crisis response initiatives to mitigate negative narratives.
•Build and maintain strong relationships with key media personnel and industry influencers.
•Collaborate with internal teams to produce accurate, compelling content for websites, social media, and press materials.
•Lead public profiling and awareness campaigns for the Telecel Foundation and sustainability initiatives.
•Develop and execute programs to enhance Telecel’s reputation and position it as a thought leader in the telecom sector.
•Prepare position papers on critical industry issues to ensure consistent, strategic messaging.
•Guide PR value from key events, sponsorships, and corporate engagements.
•Lead the design and execution of a comprehensive stakeholder engagement strategy.
•Organize quarterly media and stakeholder forums to strengthen relationships and foster collaboration.
•Maintain an issue management log to proactively track and resolve stakeholder concerns.
•Ensure alignment of all external communications with corporate values and business priorities.
Qualification Required & Experience
Requirements:
•Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
•Proven expertise in media relations, communication strategy development, and crisis management.
•Demonstrable experience providing strategic communication guidance to senior executives.
•Strong stakeholder identification, mapping, and engagement skills.
•Project management, budgeting, and reporting experience with a track record of delivering results.
•Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
•Advanced analytical and numeracy skills for performance tracking and reporting.
•In-depth understanding of the socio-economic and environmental landscape in Ghana.
•Knowledge of corporate social responsibility and sustainability practices in the Ghanaian context.
•Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines under pressure.
•Experience in digital storytelling, social media content management, and multi-channel communication.
•Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic external communication plans.
