Job Vacancy For Gushegu-Karaga District Coordinator At Ghana Developing Communities Association (GDCA) – Northern Region



The Ghana Developing Communities Association (GDCA) invites applications for the position of GUSHEGU-KARAGA DISTRICT COORDINATOR.

For one of its Rights Based and Rural Integrated Programme (CLIP) operating in Gushegu and Karaga Districts in the Northern Region.

The Programme is funded by the Danish International Development Assistance (DANIDA) and run by GDCA in co-operation with its Danish partner Ghana Venskabsgrupperne I Denmark (Ghana Friendship Groups). The programme ends in December 2014 and could be renewed.

Duties:

•   Work closely with Civil Society
•   Organisation and Community Based Organisations for improved services from relevant duty-bearers, especially in water, sanitation and food security.
•   Organise capacity building and training for CSOs and CBOs in advocacy and lobbying skills as well as budget tracking, and support CSOs and CBOs in implementing advocacy
•   Support and develop programme activities to mainstream gender
•   Regularly monitor and follow up on programme activities in the field
•   Work towards enhanced co-ordination of programme activities and the enhancement of the collaboration and co-ordination of activities and programmes with the District Assemblies, decentralized departments and other development partners operating in the CLIP's project area
•   Submit monthly reports to the Programme Coordinator using the Results Based Monitoring matrix, and suggest relevant follow up activities based on the RBM monitoring result

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Minimum of a good first degree in Social Studies, Environmental Science, or any related field
•   At least 3 years relevant work experience in community development and civil society strengthening, working from a Rights Based Approach
•   Fluency in at least one spoken language in the project area and familiarity with local customs and traditions
•   Ability to mainstream gender issues in programme activities
•   Excellent communication skills, especially report and proposal writing and rural animation
•   Good computer skills including proficiency in MS Word and Excel
•   Familiarity with the use of Results Based Monitoring and Logical Framework Approach
•   Demonstrated skills in building and working with networks and coalitions of various development partners and stakeholders
•   Ability to work to deadlines and with minimum supervision
•   Candidates must demonstrate high sense of initiative and self-confidence

Requirements of the Position:
The selected candidate must be willing and able to stay in Gushegu, where the position is located. The candidate must also be willing and able to ride a motorcycle to monitor programme activities in the field.
