Job Vacancy For Head, Corporate Communications and Media Engagement



Job Summary

• The job holder will be responsible for supporting the delivery of all of AT’s external communications strategy, including media relations and growing AT’s reputation with all stakeholders.
• (S)He will work closely with the marketing and brands communication team and will be fully in charge of developing and implementing strategies to secure press coverage for primary and secondary brands, managing relationships with journalists and keeping external stakeholders informed and engaged about AT’s business.

Key Responsibilities

Press Releases

• Manage the flow of news about the organization to the media.
• Write clear and compelling pitch letters, press releases and articles for the media.
• Develop compelling story angles that promotes a positive narrative about the business.
• Pitch stories to both national and local media.
• Achieve highest visibility for in print, broadcast, TV and online media outlets.

Media Relations

• Develop and support the implementation of Media Relations strategy.
• Cultivate and enhance relationships with key business journalists in national and trade publications.
• Identify media trends, news cycles and opportunities for presentations, Q&As, talking points and other activities in line with the business strategy.
• Plan and oversee press events.
• Enhance effectiveness of press and publicity functions.
• Analyze and measure results of PR programs.

Reputation and Crisis Management

• Ensure the company protects and promotes its image in a proper, coordinated and consistent manner.
• Optimize communication system to enhance accuracy of communication.
• Create effective communication channels.
• Act as a media spokesperson on behalf of the company and address questions and complaints.
• Research and write briefing materials.
• Assemble press kits.

Qualification Required & Experience

• First degree (in Communications, Journalism or Social Sciences).
• A member of the Ghana Journalists Association or any PR professional body (an advantage).
• A post-graduate degree in Business Administration, Public Policy & Advocacy or other social sciences is an advantage.
• 5+ years’ experience in corporate communications, Public Relations or Journalism
