Job Vacancy For Head of Internal Audit



As the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC), Legon expands its operations, it has secured financial clearance to hire additional employees into the positions advertised below: Head of Internal Audit (Job Ref: HIA/07.0319)

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for the Audit team and coordinate their activities.
• Provide advice on financial and audit policy issues to non-finance/finance managers.
• Plan financial and operational audits in line with the organization's objectives, structure, policies, processes, internal controls, and external regulations.
• Identify risk areas, prepare audit scope, objectives and programmes
• Investigate instances of fraud and make recommendations to prevent future occurrence.
• Assess risks and internal controls by identifying areas of non­compliance,
• Evaluate manual and automated financial processes, identifying process weaknesses, inefficiencies and operational issues.
• Verify assets and liabilities by comparing and analyzing items and supporting documents.
• Provide financial control information by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data and trends
• Verify all procurement documents by ensuring compliance with relevant procurement regulations.
• Assess compliance with financial regulations and undertake financial statements review and controls.

Qualification Required & Experience

• Master's Degree in Accounting or related field.
• Certified Member of IIAG/ICAC,ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA with at least FIVE (5) years post qualification work experience.
• Evidence of continuous professional development.

Knowledge & Experience

• A minimum of EIGHT (8) years total working experience, five (5) years of which must be post qualification.
• Knowledge of general administrative practices and office procedures/protocols.
• Thorough understanding of General Ledger Accounting practices, Cost Analysis and Accounting Principle..
• Knowledge of Health and Safety, Computer and Accounting Software.
• Demonstrate supervisory/team leader experience.

Skills & Abilities

• Ability to design financial spreadsheets and analyze data and information.
• Possess analytical and problem solving-skills and the ability to demonstrate and participate in effective teamwork
